Nkechi Chibueze is a happy-go-lucky stand up comedian, photographer, and teacher.
Nkechi began creating theatrical works while attending the University of North Texas Performance Studies program. She developed her comedic skills by attending sketch writing and improv classes at the Dallas Comedy House, The New Movement Theatre in New Orleans, and Second City Chicago.
Through her training, Nkechi has developed a unique comedic voice that has been described as, “Bubbly, hilarious, and acerbically polite.” She has performed stand-up across the country, and her first comedy special “Kindergarten Teacher Energy” can be found on YouTube.
Nkechi is a founding member of No Lye Comedy, a collective which provides access to comedy education and performance opportunities for Black Women in New Orleans through monthly stand up & sketch shows, writing & improv workshops, and podcasting.
Nkechi is the creator of the show “Funny, But Make it Fashion”, a fast paced comedy competition that celebrates bold choices made in the world of stand up comedy and fashion. The show has been featured on the New York Comedy Festival, Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest, and Lysistrata Comedy Festival.
Nkechi is currently living in Evanston IL, and working as a Communications Instructor. She is also working on her solo show (Su)pervirgin, a story about a 35 year old woman who has never been kissed.
